What is GHRP-6?

GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide in the growth hormone releasing peptide class. Published research has studied its agonism at the ghrelin / growth hormone secretagogue receptor and characterized it as the most markedly orexigenic (appetite-stimulating) of the commonly studied GHRPs. Like GHRP-2, it has been reported in the literature to produce effects on cortisol and prolactin. GHRP-6 is not approved by the FDA for human use. Research-grade GHRP-6 is sold only as a laboratory reagent.

Common vial sizes

Research vendors typically offer GHRP-6 in 5 mg or 10 mg lyophilized vials. 2–3 mL of bacteriostatic water is commonly used.

  • 5 mg vial
  • 10 mg vial

Reconstitution examples

Worked examples showing exactly what a given vial, bacteriostatic water volume, and target dose produce in syringe units. All math is from the same calculator above.

  • 5 mg vial + 2 mL bacteriostatic water → 2500 mcg/mL concentration.
    A 100 mcg dose = 4 units on a u-100 insulin, 1 ml (100 units) (0.04 mL).
  • 5 mg vial + 2 mL bacteriostatic water → 2500 mcg/mL concentration.
    A 200 mcg dose = 8 units on a u-100 insulin, 1 ml (100 units) (0.08 mL).
  • 10 mg vial + 3 mL bacteriostatic water → 3333.33 mcg/mL concentration.
    A 200 mcg dose = 6 units on a u-100 insulin, 1 ml (100 units) (0.06 mL).
  • 5 mg vial + 2 mL bacteriostatic water → 2500 mcg/mL concentration.
    A 300 mcg dose = 12 units on a u-100 insulin, 1 ml (100 units) (0.12 mL).

Storage & shelf life

Lyophilized GHRP-6 is typically stored refrigerated at 2–8 °C. Reconstituted solutions are generally refrigerated and protected from light.

Reported half-life

Published pharmacokinetic data reports a plasma half-life of approximately 15–60 minutes for GHRP-6.

Frequently asked questions

What is GHRP-6 best known for in published research? +
Published research has characterized GHRP-6 as the most orexigenic of the commonly studied GHRPs — it has been reported to produce appetite stimulation in addition to growth hormone release.
How does GHRP-6 compare to GHRP-2? +
Both act at the ghrelin receptor. GHRP-6 has been reported to produce more pronounced appetite stimulation in published studies, while GHRP-2 has been characterized as a stronger direct growth hormone releaser in some studies.
How much bacteriostatic water should I use with a 5 mg vial? +
2–3 mL is commonly reported. Use the calculator above for exact draw sizes.
Is GHRP-6 FDA-approved? +
No. GHRP-6 is not FDA-approved for human use.
What syringe size is best? +
U-100 insulin syringes in 0.3 mL or 0.5 mL sizes are commonly reported.
